It rained about half the time during our 4 day visit to Pulau Besar, a small remote island off the east coast of Malaysia that we pretty much had all to ourselves. The smell of tropical rain hitting the palm leave roof brought my mom back to it all, as she reflected on growing up in her family's atap-chu (thatch hut home).
